5-Mile Race/2-Mile Walk - September


West Hamilton Dinner & Silent Auction - October


The 5-Mile Race/2-Mile Walk is held at the beautiful Burke Lake Park, Fairfax, VA. in September.  Donations from this event support the Chapter R.C. Cartwright ROTC Scholarship Fund and Leadership Outreach programs. 
All entrants will receive a T-shirt and the top three overall male and female runners , finishers, and ROTC Cadets in each age group will be awarded prizes.  There is also an award for the top male and female in the 70+ and walker categories. We also have a
Corporate Challenge and ROTC Challenge for the corporate and ROTC teams with the best times. Chair for the 2016 event is TBD.

The 41st Annual West Hamilton Dinner and Silent Auction will occur on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Embassy Suite Springfield, 8100 Lousidale Road, Springfield, Va.  This  is a great opportunity to enjoy a traditional soul food dinner, to  socialize  with Chapter members and local ROTC Cadets and to see deserving Chapter members receive awards.  In conjunction with this dinner, the Silent Auction, started by the late LTG(R) Ed Honor in 1986, will continue as a testament to him and as a Chapter fundraiser.  The proceeds from the Silent Auction go toward several programs sponsored by the Washington, D.C. Chapter.
COL (R) Andre Barnes is the POC for the slient auction (  Awards presented at this event are: Volunteerism Award, Junior ROCK of the Year, ROCK of the Year, and Lifetime of Leadership Award. Dancing follows the Awards Ceremony. Our chair for the event is Kim McGhee at (

The Spring Gala is the National's and Chapter's culminating event. Every year, members from various chapters are recognized for their contributions and ROTC Cadets are awarded scholarships.  This year's Spring Gala theme is  "Mentoring: An investment  for our Future."  The following presentations are presented: National and Chapter General R.C. Cartwright Scholarships Award, Chapters Volunteerism Awards,  National ROCKS, Inc. Chairman Awardees,
Colonel Robert B. Burke Award, ROCK of the Year Award and  Honorary ROCK of the Year Award.

Corporate Sponsorship Benefits

The Golf Tournament is a fundraising event held at The Ospreys Golf Club located at 401 Belmont Bay in Woodbridge, Virginia, near historic Occoquan.  First, Second, and Third place trophies are presented and golfers/entrants are eligible to win an assortment of prizes.  Prizes from previous tournaments included $25,000, $15,000, a LCD flatscreen TV, Callaway Big Bertha Clubs, Domestic Round, and a Trip for Two contest.  We welcome individual, group, and corporate sponsorship at various levels.  Aside from being extremely fun, this event helps us fund scholarships for well-deserving cadets.
